Neurofibromatosis 2 (NF2) is a condition where tumors grow on the nerve endings of those afflicted. The Halloween Bash started as a celebration of life for Camille Thoms, daughter of Roland and Nicole Thoms (Varsity Painting), who had brain surgery to remove a large tumor when she was 7. Because of NF2, Camille has lost sight in one eye and hearing in one ear. Tumors are growing on her spine, her other ear canal, and brain. Now 26, Camille has recently graduated from the University of Utah. Her last surgery involved a trip to Boston to remove an 11 inch tumor from her neck. She, like others afflicted, has a difficult road ahead fighting the growing tumors. All Halloween Bash proceeds and other donations are given to the best researchers and scientists working on NF2. Last year, $100,000 was raised and provided to research groups. Their work is promising, but much more funding is needed so we can End NF.
